Every week after the passing of Carolyn, Mark Ciovacco and wife Esther provided to Mike fabulous meals and endless hours of visits with Mike. Years of shared holidays and events were cherished. Of special mention is the very close relationship between the Parker and Ciovacco families. ![]() He is also survived by his lifelong best friend, John Ciovacco, his wife Wally Ciovacco, and their children Karen Ciovacco Fuchs of Princeton NJ and Mark Ciovacco DDS of Poughkeepsie NY. He is also survived by his brother in law, Gustavo DiLauro of Margate, NJ. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Colahan of Beverly MA, and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Parker of Poughkeepsie, NY, and his son Michael Parker Jr. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, who passed away on November 9, 2009. He and his wife, Carolyn, traveled Europe many times they particularly enjoyed visiting family in Ireland and Italy. Many vacations were spent on Cape Cod, the New Jersey shore, and New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Mike was a lifelong sports advocate he enjoyed golfing, tennis, swimming, boating, skiing, ice skating, bicycle riding, and long walks. Through the years, the Parkers were active members of the Poughkeepsie Tennis Club Mike was a member of the PTC Board for many years. The vast majority of his career was spent in the Hudson Valley area. He also worked for IBM in Manhattan, Westchester, Dutchess and Ulster counties. Mike began his long and rewarding career with IBM in Boston, Massachusetts. They dated long distance between Boston and Philadelphia and then married on May 19, 1951. Through his US Navy enlistment, he was a graduate in mechanical engineering from Tufts University.Īt the wedding of his best and lifelong friend, John Ciovacco, Mike met his wife to be, Carolyn DiLauro of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the captain of his high school baseball and track teams. He was valedictorian of his 1944 high school class. Mike was born on January 18, 1927, the son of Mary and William Parker of Hyde Park, Massachusetts, where he grew up. Parker, a Poughkeepsie area resident since 1950, died peacefully in his sleep on July 9, 2023, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
